Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is Echo Learn?
Echo Learn is a language learning system that puts the control in your hands to learn a new language at your convenience on the web or on your mobile phone.

2) How do I get started?
From http://echolearn.com/, select your native language. From there the main menu will guide you into your choices.

3) Can I try it out before I decide to sign up or buy anything?
Not really. Spanish demo: if you try to use it you’ll be frustrated. It has a recorder with no explanation, and no sound file to hear pronunciation of words. After 4 of those, you’ll have a page with several words with pronunciation in English. Not real helpful when taking a demo for Spanish. If you get fed up with that and try to move on, too bad. Pushing Next will only refresh the page you’re on, even though the status bar says you’re only 50% done.

4) I clicked through to sign up for a demo, and got to http://english.echolearn.com/menu.htm. The next thing to do was confusing with the choices presented. I clicked on “Continue”, as if to continue to the demo. I guess I should have pressed “Take Lesson” but it didn’t seem obvious to me.

5) Why are the pronunciations in English for a Spanish demo?
I have no idea.

6) Per #3, the Spanish demo didn’t work as expected. How do I try another demo?
On the tabbed menu above, click on Course Catalog. You’ll see other demos there, for a charge. Guess you’ll be paying after all. Click on them and nothing will happen. Well, you’ll probably miss a tiny message at the top that prompts for you to enter a promo code. Don’t have one? Shoot.

7) What’s Voice Bench? I clicked through to take the demo “Elementary Japanese for Travelers” and now I’m on a site called Voice Bench. Why? I’m confused.
I don’t know, I just work here.

7) What is Voice Bench? (the real FAQ question, for actual display)
Voice Bench is an audio resume service that ensures candidates will not have to go from place to place for numerous interviews and face rejection. VOICE BENCH provides an evaluation tool for candidates, helping them determine their training needs and empower them to be industry-ready before their next attempt.

8) By the way, the same problems apply for “Elementary Japanese for Travelers” across the board that I outlined in #3 for the Spanish demo.

9) On the demo “Elementary Japanese for Travelers” it is labeled Current Course Module: MODULE 6: 1-SYLLABLE VERBS once you start it. The Spanish demo said the same thing up top. Shouldn’t it match the item I’m using, in this case, demo?
